The Present Era

The period of time understood as “The Present Era” in the Timeline of the Suocéverse is the one that covers the last ~3700 yr of history of the Pokémon World, up to the events in the same timeframe shown in the mainline games (GenⅠ-GenⅧ), and from there up to an uncertain time into the future (as of last edit of this document, GenⅨ). It is also the period of time by which modern in-universe calendars work.

It is preceded by the Previous Era and followed up by THE FUTURE!

It is unknown/undetermined what event provides the calendar Epoch in this era.

Differences from Franchise Canon

The Present Era uses a different epoch than the timeline we see in the games and anime, and “stretches” events of the recent past to help give the modern Pokémon world a more Zeerust-like or Retrofuturism feel, as well as to avoid a too strong coupling to IRL Earth History. For example, events of around two centuries ago such as the burning of the Brass Tower, are pushed back to three centuries. The special case of the confrontations of the Warring Triad has their two historical encounters being pushed back around 600 years each.

Suocéverse timeline considers the events depicted in the remakes of various games (HG/SS, OR/AS, etc) to be refinements, remasters or extensions of the original events, and where there is no conflict they are assumed to take place within the same timeframe.

1st Millennium

Timeframe from +0 PE(~3733 before Gen1) to 999 PE(~2734 before Gen1) .

Before 400

  • Kyogre and Groudon (Mainline) fight each other on the coasts of Caledoria, and are dubbed by the early settlers as Kay-Kay, treacherous deity of the seas, and Grau-Grau, treacherous deity of the mountains.
  • Kyogre and Groudon face off in the coasts of the Guyanas, but are fended off and weakened by a group of powerful sorcerer-trainers.

400

  • Clash of the super-ancient Pokémon: Kyogre and Groudon battle each other off the coasts of Hoenn and achieve Primal Reversion, but are stopped by Rayquaza.
    • Kyogre escapes to the seas of Caledoria. Irate at the idea that humans could also have magic power to stop her, she imbues some of her powers to Millalobo the Way-Lighter as a safeguard.

800

  • Kalos War: a great war breaks out between Kalos and another (currently unnamed) nation. The war soon spreads to encompass other nearby regions, in particular after WMDs were put into action.
    • At the peak of the war the regent of Kalos powers up the Flower WEPON, feeding it the lifeforce of countless Pokémon hypnotized and tortured into servitude. This allows the weapon to unleash a powerful beam of light for him to judge his enemies and punish them with oblivion. Kinda like Kefka, in probably more ways than one.
    • At some point shortly after the war, the Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal move from the northern region where they were worshipped into the remains of Kalos, their presence requested by a currently undetermined entity.

2nd Millennium

Timeframe from 1000 PE(~2733 before Gen1) to 1999 PE(~1734 before Gen1) .

  • Estracura is settled by humans.

1200s

  • Relic Castle is excavated in the centre of Unova by the people of the Vale.

1400s

  • The passing of a Dark Planet, documented by ancients as a “meteor”, triggers a supercaldera in Hoenn. A volcanic island explodes and spreads tremendous amounts of natural energy around, creating the volcanic hollow that will eventually become Sootopolis City.
    • Kyogre and Groudon to go Hoenn to face each other (yet again). During this confrontation, the Draconid people manage to summon Rayquaza, who once again quells the conflict and forces the two Pokémon to flee.
    • As a display of gratitude for saving the region, the Draconid people build a nest for Rayquaza off the coast of Hoenn, which becomes Sky Pillar.
    • A weakened Groudon falls back to the Land Wall of Krasnoska, and digs into the crust of the Earth to hide under what would later become Poké!Persia.
    • A weakened Kyogre falls back to the Guyanas, where she is ambushed by sorcerer-trainers who capture part of her essence into a Blue Orb, but she manages to escape.

1600s

  • Using knowledge passed down from the Draconids, the sorcerer-trainers of the Guyanas and the moon-mages of Ásfiri join forces to hunt down Kyogre and Groudon in their respective nests, capturing most of their power, as well as their consciousness, into the Red Orb and the Blue Orb.

1700s

  • A landslide in Lëkchen, Krasnoska, wakes up the Regigigas sleeping inside. The superPokémon starts a long march to the east and goes to hide in Sinnoh, where he remains until the events of M11.

    • Sir Aaron sacrifices himself to heal the Tree and as a side effect stops the war.

2600

  • War of the Vale: civil war ravages the titular kingdom, ending in an event where the dragons Reshiram and Zekrom are persuaded into fighting each other in representation of the two heirs of the kingdom.
    • As a result of the war, the Kingdom of Vale falls and eventually fades from history.
    • As punishment for their actions, Reshiram and Zekrom request to be returned to their Morph Balls to their hideout in the northern lands of Unova. Devotion of the dragons who were following them leads to an explosive increase of the population in Dragonspiral Moors Sovereignty.

2800

  • War of Ransei.
    • Shiranui, the Protector Ho-Oh of the era, is killed during the confrontations.

2900

  • Two tower shrines are built in Ecruteak Town, Johto, as celebration for the announcement of two new Protectors who become the modern-day Ho-Oh and Lugia.
  • Xerneas and Yveltal release much of the energy they have pooled across the last few centuries, helping regenerate much of the Kalosian ecosystem, and retreat to slumber in undetermined locations.
  • Pokémon migrating away from the Kingdom of Vale settle down in the opposite side of the continent and fund the second iteration of the Rienna Valley Sovereignty.

    • On its way out, Ho-Oh reportedly revived three undetermined Pokémon, promoting them to the role of Gerbils.
  • Song of Abandonment — One of the two Protector birds is reported to have flown over the coasts of Rondovia, Suocé and Caledoria, denouncing pillage and betrayal by humans.
    • After meeting with the Cadrícea Muskedeer Trio the bird departs to the south, and the three Legendaries renounce their position as leaders of Cadrícea and disappear into the fogs of time.
    • This repeats with various Legendaries fading from history all across the world.
  • With the foundation of the city of Salípolis, the Region of Suocé is officially born, and the city designated its capital.

3400

  • Rayquaza leaves its nesting pyramid in a non-canon region and travels to the North Pole, where it intercepts and destroys a meteorite carrying the creature Deoxys; Rayquaza destroys the space virus and later disappears into the atmosphere.
