Sahlai is a male Xatu under the patronage of Cobalion of the Cadrícean Widefields. He works as a secretary and profiler of sorts, providing information about human activities in the area.

Sahlai would have started serving the Guardian Forces at some time near yr. 3720 PE. Originally from the southern Balcan area, he was recruited by the Trio after having spent a few years providing valuable information about the closing and removal of a number of quarries in the southern Sovereignty.

Sahlai was the last member of the Retinues to be recruited, and the offering by Terrakion came as a surprise even for them. As the final trial of his utility for the Guardians, he was made to profile Caolené and Eremilia to designate which one of the two would remain stationed at Lake Barcan for its protection. At some point near yr. 3740, Sahlai profiled a few foreign Trainers visiting Suocé for Cobalion to fight. He audited and recorded the battle between Cobalion and Colton Rever's team. ( Sabres in the Sandstone )

Sahlai was female in original working plans for both Interim and Sabres in the Sandstone (and in this very wiki). He was instead changed to a male Xatu after drafting for Gelid Remainder began and Eremilia's character was added, the Buizel taking the more proper “female inspector” role initially intended for Sahlai while Sahlai turned into more of a character profiler.
