The story opens up with two Pokémon, Sasqūe the Lucario and Keller the Luxray, who are near the very end of their own adventure that currently presents them a failure. The two have for months prepared a raid to the temple where a World Changer lives, with the purpose of killing the entity and unleashing a powerful spell that would change the world in a way they see fit. However, the Clefable's aerial forces have sprung their own trap on them and captured the World Changer, stealing the duo's last chance to change the world…

…And the duo stays there, defeated and watching their target be stolen from them and the stars mock them for their failure. That is, until Sasqūe realizes there is one kill that can yet be made that could still hopefully trigger the spell from the stars. After all, Keller is his best friend, the Lucario thinks, there's no way he would not be okay with this opportunity to turn the tables in their favour again.

The only named location in the story is Tianji Aerie, the excavated mountain temple where the goddess that the main characters were chasing was hosted.

It's also assumed that the story would take place in a “dimension” or “realm” separate from Mainline and PMD Suocéverse; most likely, the same candidate world of Nrafhal that is being created for “Down & Cast” N/A? .

As the AO3 page details, this story was written in response as a sort-of challenge at the PMD Writers United community to have a Lucario killed, itself part of the response to a “Lucario cull” on my end.

Due to the circumstances of how it came into being, Blink, Slowly is the only Suocéverse story that has AO3 as its primary release.
