Makenna is Machalí sol Linaros' Houndoom, befriended as a Houndour. She is in certain ways the second-in-command in the team, and is in charge of path-finding and route traversing for the team.

Makenna is a forceful and responsible Pokémon, but very adamant and not very open to compromise.

She has a very strong inclination for leadership, causing her and Inka to frequently clash. Despite this, they have a strong respect for each other, and when Inka is for any reason unavailable to lead, Makenna usually takes the lead.

Makenna used to be part of a wild pack in the area of Javisé, Suocé. As with many wild Pokémon in the general area, the lives of the pack became harder and less stable as a result of the migration of wild Pokémon to the east of the country as part of the buildup of the Ísparus Draconic Claim ca. 3723 PE^{(~10 before Gen1)} .

At some point the pack split and Makenna, still a young Houndour at the time, found herself trying to survive alone in one of the various cities in the area. After a confrontation with a rival Houndour, she was left wounded and sought refuge at a garden right by a Pokécenter. It was there that she found Pokéteco when the latter was moving food out of the Pokécenter, and the two of them mingled. Shortly enough after, Pokéteco convinced Machalí to catch her.

Makenna's Reactive Ability is Early Bird, which allows her a certain degree of protection from sleep-inducing attacks.
